Here is a short video that highlights the real controversy of paying to have cord blood saved for your child. There are clear health and social aspects to this question that could be investigated through a science classroom. There are also key questions for human ingenuity here in the positive and negative consequences of this development for parents. Finally, the question of our medical community already supporting our needs in a collective manner is put forth. This is put into clear contrast with our individual needs. Language teachers could also use this at a variety of levels with middle and high school level students as a source for debate and discussion.
